Harmony Archtone H1215

This was another guitar that was headed for landfill, a 50’s or 60’s Harmony Archtone H1215. These are pretty cool guitars there were inexpesive in their own era, but which have such a unique sound that they have become fairly desireable in modern times. I’m very excited to have been able to rescue and restore it, and pass it on to a really enthusiastic young and dedicated player looking for that unique vintage sound.

When I got it the top was separated from the body, the back was separated from the body, the fretboard had shriveled up and the frets stuck off the sides a good millimeter – like little blades. It also had missing tuners, missing bridge and missing tailpiece.

Dried out and pitted fretboard with crazy sharp fret ends.

The restoration included steaming the body to soften the wood and realign the top, sides and back, then gluing everything in place to remake the structure of the body.

Then removed the frets, sanded much of the pits out of the fretboard and re-fretting it.

The “new” tuners are vintage originals from a “KAY” sister guitar that I’ve been using as parts.

New bridge and tailpiece from Amazon (seriously decent quality, I was surprised).

Polished it all up and …… voila …..
