What do you do with a low-end, unsalvageable electric guitar? You turn it into a cribbage board of course. I so hate instruments going in the garbage that, even when they belong there, I‘m convinced there’s a way to do something with it. See the photo progression below to see how I turned this beat up wreck into a game night axe. This is the “as is” version. It had a bag of miscellaneous parts with it, but no working pickup or electronics. Pretty grungy and scarred up too. Stripped, cleaned, chips and gouges filled. Made a jig to draw the lines for the track to contour the body. Used a length of picture hanging wire to get a perfect length of the inner (shorter) track. Measured out the blocks of 5 and drew lines perpendicular to the edge. Then measured out the holes on the inner track and used a square to make corresponding marks on the outer track. Centre punch each peg hole before drilling. Ready to drill holes with a 1/8 drill bit on a bench-top drill press. Holes drilled ok. Now to scavenge some useless parts to make it look like a guitar too. Not a real guitar restoration, but it was a fun little project. Thanks for looking.
