Daion guitars have almost a cult like following amongst those who like Japanese guitars. Made in Yamaki factories, Daion guitars were tremendously well made. This fella came to me broken and battered after it had been dropped on the lower bout and the cedar top popped. The previous owner really just wanted it to not go to the dump – and neither did it. It turned out pretty well. Cosmetically is shows the scars of battle, but structurally it is rock solid now, and it sounds unbelievable. I have bought, fixed, and sold almost 100 guitars, and have only ever kept two restorations. This is one of them. It is by no means the most impressive guitar I’ve worked on (I’ve dumped 3 Martins and several other top name guitars), but it is honestly is the very best playing and sounding dreadnaught I’ve ever owned. Despite a cost of zero dollars and zero cents, you probably couldn’t offer me enough money to part with it (but I’d be okay if you tried :). The link to my YouTube restoration video is right below. Thanks for watching.
