Vintage Red Label Yamaha FG-140 (1968 or 1969)

Old guitarists say the “FG” in Japanese Yamahas stands for “Fu€&ing Great”. this is one of the earliest Yamaha acoustic guitars ever made, and has the coveted Nippon Gakki Red Label. Made only between 1968 and 1972. This guitar does not have a serial number inside it, indicating a very early production year, 1968 or 1969. When I got this guitar, or was destined for the garbage dump, with broken tuners and the entire body carved up with vulgar and profane graffiti. I had some vintage 1960s Yamaha parts to repair the tuning pegs, and spent many hours trying to delicately sand out as much of the deeply gouged graffiti without ruining the integrity or sound of the guitar. I think it turned out really nice, and the sound is ridiculously good. Another win for vintage guitar salvage.
